Dr. Pinaki Pal is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Advanced Propulsion and Power within Argonne’s Transportation and Power Systems division. His research expertise lies in the areas of CFD, turbulent multiphase combustion modeling, extreme combustion events, scientific machine learning, UQ, high-order numerical methods, and HPC with relevance to design and optimization of propulsion/power systems, such as gas turbine engines, rotating detonation engines, piston engines operating on zero/low carbon fuels. Dr. Pal completed his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2012 and 2015, respectively. Prior to that, he obtained his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2011.
