Garcia Henao

John Anderson Garcia Henao is a biomedical and computer science researcher with experience in data infrastructure management, clinical data management, parallel programming, and developing machine learning models for health sciences projects. Formerly a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, he leaded an SNSF-funded project utilizing AI and multiomics methodologies to evaluate disease severity and predict chronic risks in acute COVID-19 patients. Prior to this, he played a pivotal role in advancing data mining techniques and distributed deep learning algorithms as part of his doctoral research under the French government-funded UCAJEDI project at the University of Côte d'Azur. This involved integrating extensive clinical data from both private and public hospital data repositories in the South of France (PACA region) and building an energy-efficient cluster comprised of NVIDIA Jetson nodes. He earned his MSc in Information Systems Engineering from the Industrial University of Santander and his BS from the Central University of Valle del Cauca. Currently Pursuing a Master of Advanced Studies in Translational Medicine and Biomedical Entrepreneurship at Sitem-Insel, University of Bern, Dr. Garcia is enhancing his expertise in biopharmaceuticals, GMP processes, clinical trials and data governance principles, with a focus on regulatory compliance requirements such as GDPR and HIPAA.
